Spring is here and summer is right around the corner, which means it’s one of the nicest times of year to come out to Monterey and stay at The Sanctuary Beach Resort. Our property sits on an undisturbed stretch of Monterey Bay coastline, providing guests the peace and tranquility necessary to fully embrace the region’s beauty. Another thing that helps that embrace—a good cocktail. Looking to our onsite restaurant Salt Wood Kitchen and Oysterette’s more refreshing drinks, these are our favorite options for a sunny day.
Daiquiris and sunny days by the water have always gone hand-in-hand. Popular on the islands, rum drinks are permanently associated with vacation, warm-weather great times. Salt Wood’s daiquiri is especially uplifting with its Ron Zacapa rum, and twist of lime.
Gin is a funny drunk, and it pairs well with summer flavors like citruses and bubbly seltzers. So, it’s no wonder that Salt Wood’s original Ramos Gin Fizz is one of our favorite sunny-day cocktails, as it comes with Nolet’s silver dry gin, lemon, orange flower water, and an egg white on top.
Again, the gin and lemon combination will do you right when you’re relaxing by the water, possibly gearing up for a nice seafood lunch, and then a soothing massage from our expert staff. This simple drink is comprised of Tanqueray No. 10, lemon, and Chandon sparkling brut.
Right alongside the daiquiri, the margarita is a staple beach vacation drink, and for good reason. The tequila keeps you going, while refreshing citruses and those undeniably magnetic salt rims makes the experience as tasty as can be. Salt Wood makes its rendition with Deleon Reposado, Cointreau, lime, serrano vinegar, and a sea salt rim.
Another bubbly fizz drink, this one hits for all the same reasons the Ramos Gin Fizz does, and it all centers around that delightful Chandon sparkling brut. In this cocktail, however, the sparkling wine come served with orange and yuzu for a unique, flavorful twist.
With the ocean as its back yard, Salt Wood is our favorite spot in Monterey to enjoy a cocktail by the sea. Learn more here!
