Every year, the county of Monterey welcomes travelers to explore an array of exciting and unique annual events. From professional sports tournaments in the winter to fall music festivals, here are some of our favorite annual events in Monterey.

An Irish Christmas

At the end of every November, this famous family-friendly event brings world-famous Irish step dancing and music to Monterey. An Irish Christmas gets you in the yuletide spirit early, while also serving as one of the city’s best annual shows with award-winning dancers from acclaimed productions like Riverdance, and Lord Of The Dance.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is one of the world’s most famous annual professional golf tournaments. Drawing some of the PGA’s best players year after year, it’s a proud tradition of Pebble Beach, California, which is located in Monterey County. Come out and play the world-famous Pebble Beach Golf Links throughout the year, and check out the tournament this February.

The California Roots Music & Arts Festival

Every spring, The California Roots and Art Festival descends upon the world-famous Monterey County Fairgrounds for three days of live music. Celebrating a wide arrange of musical sounds including reggae, folk, hip-hop, and rock—the festival draws an eclectic and fun crowd. Some of last year’s hit acts included Nas, Thievery Corporation and Jurassic 5.

Monterey County Fair

The city just enjoyed another successful installment of The Monterey County Fair to close out this past summer. Featuring five days of live music, exhibits from local artisans and farmers, fiestas, speeches, parades, and more, it’s one of the most popular annual events in town.

The Monterey Jazz Festival

The Monterey Jazz Festival is one of the most popular and longest running jazz festivals in the world. If you’ve been to Jazz Fest in New Orleans, or the Newport Folk Festival, then you need to add this one to the list. Keep an eye out for The Monterey Jazz festival when it comes to town every September.
