One of the most popular annual events will return once again this Labor Day Weekend to close out the summer. From August 30 – September 3rd, The Monterey County Fair will be in full swing with a ton of events for guests to enjoy. Here’s our breakdown of what to check out.
Originally a backing band for Eric Burdon of The Animals, WAR grew into its own entity of with a distinct sound and a number of timeless hits. In the decades since Burdon left, the band has continued to evolve and develop its sound. Some of WARs most well-known hits include “Why Can’t We Be Friends” and “What Is It Good For?”
Another concert set to take place at this year’s Monterey County Fair, the George Strait Tribute is great for all fans of the famous American country music singer. The band’s frontman Derek Spence is said to embody George Strait in a way that rouses audiences, and gets people up, singing, and dancing.
One of the other headlining acts, performing two daily shows throughout the Monterey County Fair, Left Of Center is a Nevada-based group who covers a wide variety of tunes and artists including Brad Paisley, Bob Marley, and Metallica. The official house band at Toby Keith’s bar and grill in Las Vegas, they’re well versed in getting the crowd going.
Every year, the Monterey County Fair hosts a number of exhibits and junior livestock competitions that are popular amongst farmers from the surrounding areas. Check out the website for information on local and state rules, walkthroughs on quality care for animals, registration forms, and more.
