Monterey is a downright beautiful area of the world, and while you’re here, it’s recommended to soak up as many views as possible. The Sanctuary Beach Resort and our Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette is an easy place to start, as we sit on an uninterrupted stretch of Monterey Bay coastline, surrounded by windswept dunes. When it’s time to get out on the town and explore, your options for places to sit and enjoy a drink with views of the water are plentiful.
Looking to some of the best bars and restaurants around town, we put together this brief guide on where to enjoy some drinks with views of Monterey Bay.
the C restaurant + bar
Upon walking into this favorite local restaurant and bar, guests enjoy brilliant views of Monterey Bay through floor-to-ceiling windows in the dining room. The vibe here is definitely an elevated one, and if you’re looking to enjoy some snacks with your drinks, then we recommend sampling some oysters and absolutely heavenly ceviche.
At the bar, sample a number of varietals from Monterey’s under-the-radar wine region. Additionally, the C Bar has its own craft cocktails. We’re partial to Stenbeck’s Punch, which comes with Absolut Elyx Vodka, orange Cognac, pomegranate juice, lemonade, orange juice, soda water, and fresh berries.

Abalonetti Bar and Grill
Located on Fisherman’s Wharf—one of Monterey’s best downtown waterfront attractions—Abalonetti Bar and Grill has been a popular waterside spot for over a half century. It’s popular for its views of Monterey Bay and delicious seafood options that include clam chowder and fried calamari.
Abalonetti Bar and Grill’s menu of wines emphasizes vineyards along the Central Coast of California, and craft beers from around the country. Additionally, it’s known for mixing up stellar margaritas, salty dogs, and Moscow mules for those looking to take the edge off.

Schooners Coastal Kitchen & Bar
Schooners Coastal Kitchen & Bar is a Cannery Row staple that is one of the more upscale places to enjoy a drink with a view of Monterey Bay. Its patio allows visitors to enjoy the Monterey Bay breeze while sipping on a drink and nibbling on some snacks.
Among our favorite cocktails, the Monterey Tea Party, features Bulleit Bourbon, Bird Dog peach bourbon, iced tea, lemon, and bourbon maple syrup. We also love the Big Little Lies (named for the hit HBO series filmed in Monterey), which comes with Ketel grapefruit rose botanical, aperol, lemon, pomegranate, grapefruit, agave, mint, and Prosecco.

Sandbar & Grill
Sandbar & Grill is an unpretentious waterside dining room and bar that offers lovely marina views. In addition to coming here for oysters, weekly specials, and a popular Sunday brunch, locals also enjoy Sandbar & Grill’s relaxed atmosphere, where the views are the main attraction.
On the drinks menu, the orange margarita is a citrusy take on the classic, while a long list of special martinis makes for a chic choice by the bay.
