Monterey County’s town of Pacific Grove celebrates itself every fall with the magnificent Butterfly Parade and Bazaar. The inspiration for the event is the seasonal return of the Monarch Butterfly to its local habitat. The tradition goes back nearly 75 years, and centers around a parade where local school children dress like local wildlife creatures. The order goes that kindergarteners are butterflies, second graders are otters, fourth graders are pioneers, and so on. The Butterfly Bazaar will accompany the parade, and offer a number of fun crafts and works of art for you to take home.
