A prized local tradition, WhaleFest is a two-day celebration of the migration of gray whales that happens in Monterey every year. The widescale event includes a symposium with lectures and documentary screenings pertaining to marine life conservation and the ocean. This educational and fun event is a great family activity, especially because it can teach the kids so much about the majestic things happening all around them when they visit here. Additionally, the event benefits local and national marine organizations and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
