Sea Otter Classic

2012 Sea Otter Classic

Spring is here and so is the 2012 Sea Otter Classic, one of the largest cycling events in North America. Originally called the Laguna Seca Challenge, this event began in 1991 with 350 athletes and 150 spectators. The Sea Otter Classic is a Celebration of Cyclists. More than 50,000 fans and cyclists will be present at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area in Monterey April 19-22, 2012.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for April 29th! One of Forbes’ “Top 10 Marathons Worth Traveling For” takes place here on the peninsula. The Big Sur International Marathon has epic views and over 7,000 participants, this is an event you do not want to miss. Runners, walkers, and fitness advocates are advised to stay at our Monterey Oceanfront Hotel and be a part of this mystical experience. Spectators may watch the end of the race at the finish area located at Highway 1 and Rio Road adjacent to the Crossroads Shopping Center, Carmel.

Did you know that Sanctuary Beach Resort is located only two miles from the entrance of the waterfront Monterey Recreational Trail? This trail stretches 11 miles from the resort all the way to Pacific Grove! To avoid busy roads, get some exercise or appreciate a scenic adventure; visitors can enjoy Monterey area attractions including Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, beaches, parks, historic sites and Downtown Monterey.
