Shopping Local in Monterey

The holiday season is kicking into gear, which means that you have a lot to keep track of. In the midst of all the party planning, gift buying, meal cooking, and general chaos of this time of year, we don’t want you to miss out on our special Cyber Monday sale coming up. Black Friday is one thing, and Small Shop Saturday is another, but Cyber Monday is the time to get a discounted getaway to a beautiful Monterey resort.

Once you arrive at The Sanctuary Beach Resort, you can use your savings to splurge on yourself and loved ones at some of our favorite and most influential local businesses. Here’s where we recommend taking your Cyber Monday savings.

Second Chance Thrift Store

With one location here in Monterey, and a second in nearby Pacific Grove, Second Chance Thrift Store is one of the best local vintage shops, with an inspiring mission at its core. Since its opening in 2012, the business has provided training and mentoring for residents of the Bridge Restoration Ministry, an organization offering homes, structure, and supervision for those struggling with addictions. The shop also collects and donates goods for resale to support The Bridge.

Del Monte Shopping Center

Del Monte Shopping Center is the largest shopping center on the Monterey Peninsula, and is the only place within 20 miles to find a department store. If you’re looking to get some serious holiday shopping done during your upcoming Monterey vacation, then this is the place to go. Big name brands have shops here, and some of them include Banana Republic, Lululemon Athletica, Men’s Wearhouse, GAP, and Zumiez. You could also treat yourself to some jewelry here at Pandora or Zales Jewelers.

Carmel-By-The-Sea Shopping

Carmel-By-The-Sea is a small coastal town in Monterey County, and it has a shopping scene that has a unique, metropolitan vibe to it. A number of stellar boutiques line the stone-paved streets and alleyways, and you can find small designer boutiques, as well as outdoor malls here. We are partial to Elizabeth W, which is a unique shop with apothecary, fine letter presses, and perfumes. Wittpenn Antiques is worth a visit, as well as Wicks and Wax with its original candles and accessories, and B & G Jewelers.

Moss Landing Antique Shops

Moss Landing is a Harbor District of Monterey County that’s known for its fisherman-town aesthetic, quaint cottages, historic buildings, and incredible number of antique shops. Across these many outposts, you can peruse old home furnishings, collectibles, garden items, glass, jewelry, kitchen items, toys, quilts, and a whole lot more. If you happen to book a summer getaway with your Cyber Monday deal, keep in mind that The Moss Landing Antique Fair is a big hit with locals and travelers every July.
