5 GORGEOUS MONTEREY VINEYARDS FOR YOU TO DISCOVER

A Large Green Field With Trees In The Background

When you visit Monterey, it’s imperative that you immerse yourself in the region’s world famous local wine scene. While we have a number of wineries to point you towards, there’s also something special about going to a vineyard, looking at the land and the grapes, and enjoying a taste in the country. For that reason, we put together a list of five gorgeous Monterey vineyards for you to discover.

McIntyre Vineyards

The McIntyre Estate Vineyard is located in a gorgeous valley of Monterey County’s Santa Lucia Highlands. This 80-acre site has been producing some of the region’s oldest and most celebrated Pinot Noir since 1973. The brainchild of proprietor Steve McIntyre, the vineyard produces varietals conceived by one of the most informed vintners in the industry.

Ventana Vineyards

A large barrel-filled tasting room set in a barn on a sprawling vineyard, with rows and rows of grapevines to explore, Ventana Vineyards is a site worth seeing. Stop by on your quintessential wine tour of Monterey County to peruse the grounds and sample some of the company’s world-famous varietals. The Ventana Estate Vineyard is located in Salinas Valley, where temperatures allow grapes to store sugars at a slower rate, developing more intense flavors.

Chalone Vineyard

Located in an unusual geological formation known as the Gavilan benchland, the grapes grown at Chalone Vineyard experience weather patterns unlike those at other vineyards around the world. The unique varietals are produced on a gorgeous piece of land, with rolling hills and grapevines providing breathtaking views for visitors coming to taste. When you come to visit, be sure to sample some of Chalone’s famous Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Pierce Ranch Vineyards

Located right in the town of Monterey, Pierce Ranch Vineyards is one of the most gorgeous and accessible places to taste wine near The Sanctuary Beach Resort. Come here and sit on the front-porch of this family-owned establishment overlooking the vineyards and quaint town surrounding. The vineyard produces limited-run, estate-grown wines with a focus on Spanish and Portuguese varietals. The artisanal and careful approach to the production of wine at Pierce Ranch Vineyards makes this one of the best places to go wine tasting in Monterey County.
