10 BACHELOR & BACHELORETTE PARTY IDEAS FOR NATURE LOVERS

We’re big fans of thinking outside the box, and there’s no better time to put that into action than for your bachelor or bachelorette party! If you’re a nature lover, then there are countless opportunities to connect with the beauty around you as a way to celebrate your upcoming big day. Why not kick off celebrations in the great outdoors? If you’re in California, the places to explore are truly endless. Here are 10 bachelor and bachelorette party ideas for nature lovers.

1. TAKE A DAY TRIP TO BIG SUR

Big Sur is one of our favorite spots to spend quality time with your closest friends by getting out of the city and into nature. Less than an hour drive away from The Sanctuary Beach Resort, Big Sur offers picturesque views, a variety of hiking trails, and plenty of beaches to relax on.

When you come back, you can disconnect, pack up a s’mores kit, and spend an evening under the stars at The Sanctuary. Take advantage of The Sanctuary’s BONDfire experience where you can cozy up just before dinner to watch the sunset, feel the heat of the wood burning, and enjoy some fondue, cocktails, or seasonal produce alongside your wedding party.

2. HAVE A BEACH DAY

Maybe you’re the type who appreciates nature but doesn’t feel the need to work too hard for it, so how about a beach day? It’s one of the best bachelor and bachelorette party ideas California has to offer. With private beach access, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the sun right at The Sanctuary. If you want to take your relaxation to the next level, we also offer beach yoga—the ultimate wellness experience before your big day.

3. TAKE KITESURFING LESSONS

If a beach day is a little too lowkey for your liking, why not take it up a notch? Grab your gear and go kitesurfing! If that sounds like way too much adrenaline for a bachelor or bachelorette party, no worries. It’s just as fun to watch the kite surfers from The Sanctuary, as you sip on a tea or coffee. Work up an appetite, and enjoy a beachside brunch at Salt Wood Kitchen and Oysterette after. Our favorites are the Cinnamon Brioche French Toast and the California Breakfast Burrito.

4. VISIT A NATIONAL PARK

California is full of stunning national parks. It may not always be top of mind when you think of “California bachelor party destinations,” but why not? Pinnacles National Park is only a 90-minute drive from The Sanctuary, so it’s perfect for a day trip full of stunning rock formations and unique wildlife. If you prefer a shorter drive, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is only 15 minutes from The Sanctuary. There, you can see some of the most stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, and you may even spot some sea lions if you’re lucky!

5. GO HIKING

Sometimes a nature-filled weekend doesn’t have to be too complicated, so keep it simple with a hike! If you have other activities planned that require you to be in the city, then a hike is the perfect way to get a dose of nature while still being able to enjoy some more traditional bachelor party activities. Over the weekend, you can discover the Marina Dunes Preserve with a lowkey nature walk, or get your heart pumping with something a bit more intense, like a group hike through Big Sur or a half-day excursion along the Pacific coastline.

You will have worked up an appetite by the time you’ve finished, so why not celebrate a day of activities with a pork roast? On Sundays and Mondays, Salt Wood hosts a pork roast, and you can even request a roast of the whole pig, depending on your group size. Either way, it’s sure to be a memorable meal.

6. GO WINE TASTING

If you’re having a bachelor party in Monterey, California, you’re in luck. Wine tasting is the perfect blend of nature and leisure. California was practically made for bachelor and bachelorette parties like this. Be sure to have a look at these five gorgeous Monterey vineyards for you to discover.

If wine tasting isn’t a group favorite, give oyster shucking a try! Grab your group and head over to Salt Wood to join our in-house chef for an Oyster and Bubbles experience you won’t forget.

7. GO WHALE WATCHING

What better way to spend your bachelorette party than on a boat? Whale watching is the perfect excuse to do that. Monterey is one of the best places in California to go whale watching. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to do an activity that intrigues lots of people that they maybe haven’t gotten around to. Your wedding party surely can say that they’ve celebrated a bride at a bar before, but the odds are that they haven’t celebrated with whale watching.

8. GO ROCK CLIMBING

If you’re the type who likes to get your hands dirty, then rock climbing for your bachelor or bachelorette party could be the perfect way to switch things up. Pescadero State Beach is the perfect place to get your adventure going! It’s about an hour south of The Sanctuary, so it makes the perfect day trip. It has plenty of options for both beginner and advanced climbers. Grab your gear, and get ready for a day of climbing!

9. GO BIKE RIDING AROUND MONTEREY BAY

Is there anything more picturesque than taking The Sanctuary Beach Resort Cruisers for a spin? You can tote your picnic supplies across the coast, or simply get a little exercise. No matter where you take them, there are few better feelings than the ocean breeze through your hair, riding along with your closest friends.

10. GO HORSEBACK RIDING

Not only are the photo ops endless, but going horseback riding can be such a fun activity to shake things up at a bachelor or bachelorette party. For a unique and memorable outdoor experience, consider horseback riding around Monterey Bay. This region offers several guided horseback riding tours, including some that take you through the redwood forests and along the beaches.

California has plenty of outdoor activities to offer for a bachelor or bachelorette party for nature lovers. Whether you're looking for a camping trip in New Brighton State Beach, wine tasting in Napa Valley, or whale watching in Monterey, there's something for everyone. Book The Sanctuary Beach Resort as a home base for all your adventures.
